Bill Russell
Head of Network Development
Bill is responsible for the growth of the LJ Hooker network across the three primary areas of operation: Residential, Commercial and Finance. The objective is to have LJ Hooker as the undisputed leader in both network size and quality.
Bill commenced his real estate career in Tamworth in the late 1970s. In 1981 he purchased the LJ Hooker Tamworth office and grew the business into a top 10 NSW office.
In 1987 Bill brought his real estate expertise to LJ Hooker Corporate where he has held a number of positions including State Manager NSW, Auction Manager, Director of Training, International Director of Business Development, and International Director of Operations. In 2004 he left Corporate to take up the position of Managing Director of LJ Hooker Double Bay. This office was ranked the number one international office during those two years.
In late 2005 and after almost 25 continuous years with LJ Hooker, Bill joined the REA group. During this period he held a number of roles including International Sales Manager and National Manager Industry Development which saw him spend time with REA’s offices in UK, Europe, Hong Kong, Dubai and Australia working with agents implementing online marketing strategies.
Bill has been a licensed real estate agent for over 30 years in NSW as well as previously being a licensed LJ Hooker company auctioneer and licensed agent in the ACT
Why did you join LJ Hooker?
I joined LJ Hooker first time around by accident as it was the only real estate office that was for sale when I was ready to buy one. I immediately gave LJ Hooker three months to terminate the franchise agreement. I reversed that decision two months later as it would have been the worst commercial decision I could have made. That stated my first stint of 25 years with the company.
Second time around, is because I have a belief in the brand, a belief in the people who are a part of the brand, and a belief in the people who, daily, work under the brand.
